Date: 2022-02-01 06:23 am (UTC)Description: Kino starts the day with their usual aerobics and gun maintenance, including a disassembled rifle. After breakfast chatting with the man serving as inspector/police officer/etc. an alarm sounds, meaning the moving country was approaching another country. The inspector invites Kino along to see, since he'll be serving the position of ambassador for negotiations.
They drive to a place similar to a ship's bridge with many monitors displaying the scenery outside of the country as it moved. Ahead was a country with a wall stretched out blocking the entire way. They manage a radio correspondence with the country, who demands to know what the moving country is planning. As the moving country cannot stop, it will need to move through the other country; however, the extensive walls means there is no option but to break down the walls, and they urge the walled country to evacuate everyone along the path so no one is hurt. The walled country makes some attempts to launch attacks on the moving one, but all are completely ineffective. In fact, the moving country uses a high-energy laser to neatly cut a path through the wall for the country to move through.
As the moving country passes through the walled country, trampling over rural area and occasionally crushing evacuated homes, attackers begin aiming at the mural painted by the children on the side of the country. It's thought of as a sad loss, but otherwise does no damage to the country itself; the leaders resolve to explain it to the children later. However, Kino volunteers to stop the attackers without killing them, and is permitted to do so. Using the rifle from before, they shoot out all of the attackers' scopes, rendering them unable to take aim at the traveling country properly. They even manage to shoot down missiles launched at the picture, causing them to explode before they can hit.
In the end the moving country cuts down a portion of the wall on the other end and apologizes for the trouble as it continues along its way, to the rage of the walled country.
Note: the original Japanese does not particularly gender Kino, and by default most people tend to assume Kino is male upon sight, so assume cases of "Miss" etc. are just some polite referral to Kino (one official translation uses Mx.) unless otherwise noted.
Notes
Date: 2022-02-01 06:32 am (UTC)-And also why they sided with the moving country against the people trying to attack it.
